Description

The NEW Christmas album is now available EVERYWHERE!   An exclusive sneak-peak was available last year, but now the OFFICIAL NEW album is here (with an added 13th song) and a fresh Re-Master of the Album sounds even better.

Your order gives you the Christmas joy instantly!  It’s ready Right Now though for you to purchase, stream or download, and enjoy immediately.

It’s a stylistic smorgasbord buffet of all the amazing music from all eras and musical tastes that have been “The Sound of Christmas” throughout this eclectic life.  From a few classics reimagined to new twists on old favorites, to songs you never knew could be classified as “Christmas” until now.  It’s a rollercoaster ride through the blues, jazz, pop, rock, country, R & B, and of course “gospel”… because hey… Christmas certainly is “GOOD NEWS”!    ;)

You’ll hear Acappella with me and my schizophrenic s~elves stacking the tracks.  Brian Cunningham returns with his masterful guitar work on several songs. Dave Coleburn joins in on some sweet guitar and bass.  The multi-talented Carlo Furlan helps write and perform, John Biondolillo bangs on the drums and sweeps the snare.  Brad Bauthues blasts the bass and Greg Stipkala strums some rockabilly guitar riffs for U-2.  (that’s a hint).  Some Canadian friend favorites from the musical Milne family (brothers Alistair & Ashley Milne) join the hilarity on…”Those J-I-N-G-L-E Bells.”  Then my sweet family joins the album as well making several cameos.  Starting with my cousin (and NYC to LA to B’ham operatic extraordinaire) Heather Dudenbostel.  She graces us with her stellar vocals on The Secret of Christmas (arranged & performed by The Amazing Allen Pierre).   You’ll hear my amazing wife and wonderful 3 kids (soon 4 by marriage) sneaking into the background.  On top of that… I also get to write and record our first song together with my youngest singer-songwriter son, Eli Otterholt, on “Christmas Aint a Time For Being Cold”.

You’ll notice a few vague vocal attempts to honor the velvet voices of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, James Taylor, Elvis, Johnny Mathis, and The Carpenters.  Maybe even a few instrumental influences from Louis Armstrong, Chicago, Stevie Wonder, and all the classic sounds of Christmas growing up all around the Puget Sound.

It’s also a special tribute to my parents!  It brings memories of singing with my Dad as he played the old upright piano in our garage and introduced me to creating music.  To my Mom who was the home and car D.J., singing and introducing me to every style and sound imaginable.  But even better… the way that both of them starting such beautiful traditions that still bring our whole family together to pray and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

My hope is that these fun and beautiful melodies & memories might resonate and become a new/old familiar sound you celebrate with for generations.  For me… the music, the memories, and the message truly are “The Sound of Christmas.”
